Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson joined the first episode of Kelly Clarkson's new show, where he revealed Kevin Hart is doing well following his car crash.
Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was Kelly Clarkson's first guest on her new show "The Kelly Clarkson Show," where the actor spoke about his best friend Kevin Hart's recovery from a recent accident that left him with severe back injuries.
"I spoke with Kevin, I actually refer to him as my son. I connected with him today. And you know what? These things happen in life and thankfully he was strapped in nicely to his car seat," he shared.
The Tragic Crash
Hart was one of three people involved in a car crash in Calabasas, California. The driver, Jared Black, sustained back injuries alongside Kevin Hart and were transported to nearby hospitals to be treated. The third passenger did not suffer any severe injuries.
They were on a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda owned by the actor when they lost control of the vehicle, causing them to go off the road.
It was revealed that Hart was originally meant to be the guest on Clarkson's new show, but Johnson stepped forward as a substitute, even leaving his honeymoon early to make it.
On His Best Friend's Situation
The duo has been co-stars in numerous films, the most recent being "Hobbes and Shaw," and the forthcoming "Jumanji: The Next Level."
Keeping the conversation light, Johnson joked that Kevin's "pediatrician" said that he's doing well.
"We spoke to his pediatrician, and he's doing very well. He's bummed he couldn't be here as you know, but I love the guy, he's one of my best friends. Thank God, it could've been a lot worse. He's a lucky man. I wish him the best."
The Road to Recovery
Hart is currently receiving physical therapy at a local hospital, after undergoing surgery a couple of days ago. While this is so, he is not expected to make a full recovery anytime soon, as he is still in "excruciating pain" following the incident.
The good news is, the actor is seeing the recovery process positively, even taking his first few steps following the incident.
Since then, he is expected to continue going to therapy for him to get back to regular programming.
